4th of July Events for Seniors in Morristown, TN
Ask anyone what the biggest holiday celebrated in the US is, and they'll probably say Independence Day. It marks our severance from Great Britain and the birth of our great nation today, so of course, there's good reason to go nuts!
All across the country are spectacular events, including patriotic activities for older adults in Morristown, TN. So if you're a senior, you don't have to worry about missing out on the fun, as there's something available for various fitness levels.
Read on to see what 4th of July events you can attend in Morristown and the surrounding areas.
Morristown Independence Day Celebration
The main event is in Morristown, with a grand Independence Day celebration at Cherokee Park. The city puts on this annual event, and there's free admission.
The gates open at 5:00 pm, and there are food vendors available if you're hungry. Tony Justice will take the stage at 6:30 pm, and then it's over to Mark Wills at 8:00 pm for iconic country classics.
Then, the grand finale is at 9:30 pm. Fireworks will go off, so make sure you have a great spot for viewing beforehand. There are chairs on the lawn, but you can bring your own blanket too.
Jeepin in the White Pine 4th of July Parade
Jeepin in the White Pine will happen at White Pine Elementary starting at 10:00 am. This is an annual 4th of July parade where Jeep owners show off their impressive vehicles.
These Jeeps will start at White Pine Elementary, and they'll make their way down Main Street back through town. This is the ideal event to go to if you enjoy viewing vehicles, especially Jeeps.

Rogersville 4th of July Parade
Not far away is Rogersville, where they're having their own Independence Day parade too. We've added it to our list of senior holiday celebrations since it's easy to drive to and it only lasts two hours.
From 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, there will be a parade on Main Street in Downtown Rogersville. At 10:00 am, participants will gather outside of East Rogersville Baptist Church, so if you want to catch a glimpse of what's coming up, you can always get down there early.
The best thing about this activity is that it ends in the early afternoon. This leaves you free to do other things on this list!
Kingsport's Red, White, and BOOM
A little farther away is Kingsport's Red, White, and BOOM event. It's a free celebration and starts at 5:00 pm on Saturday, July 5th, so there's plenty of time to make your way over. There's also lots of free downtown parking, so take a look at the map before the big day.
On Main Street in Downtown Kingsport, you'll enjoy a free concert. There will also be food trucks where you can purchase tasty food to fill your stomach while you walk around.
You can bring a chair or blanket, but no outside beverages are allowed. You can get beer, soda, and water on site.
After the concert, around 9:45 pm, they'll shoot fireworks from Cement Hill. If you're not attending this event but still want to see the fireworks, you can do so from other areas and stream the soundtrack on Electric 94.9's channel 94.9 FM.
Stars, Stripes, and Symphonies
Something else to do in Kingsport is Stars, Stripes, and Symphonies. Do note that while this is a patriotic concert, it won't happen on Independence Day itself. Instead, it's scheduled for June 28th at the Eastman Employee Center.
While the main concert starts at 7:00 pm, there will be pre-concert activities from 4:45 pm to 6:45 pm. It's great for memory care celebrations since it engages attendees with music, which can strengthen cognitive health.

4th of July Concert in Oak Ridge
If you're searching for safe July 4th events, then go to Oak Ridge for their 4th of July concert. This free concert starts at 7:30 pm in AK Bissell Park.
You can bring your own chair or blanket and find a spot on the pavilion lawn. Spend some quality time with your loved ones while you listen to fantastic music. Afterward, there will be an amazing fireworks show hosted by the City of Oak Ridge.
Independence Day Parade and Block Party
An idea for Independence Day in assisted living is to go to the parade and block party in Rutledge. Do note that it's on Thursday, July 3rd at 6:30 pm. You can start celebrating early and have a clear schedule for the 4th itself!
The parade starts at the Chamber/UT Extension office and will start at 8:30 pm. Before that, you can get items from the food trucks and listen to the Double Barrel Band at 6:30 pm.
After the parade, the fireworks will start at 9:15 pm!
Independence Day Pro Rodeo and Fireworks
Mars Hill, NC, may take a longer car ride to get out to, but we promise you it's worth it to attend the Independence Day pro rodeo show. There are three days of excitement running from Thursday, July 3rd at 6:00 pm to Saturday, July 5th at 11:00 pm.
Not only will you get to see pro riders conquer bulls, but you'll also see:
- Broncs
- Breakaway roping
- Barrel racing
- Mutton busting (for the kids)
- Pony rides
After each rodeo, there will be fireworks each night.
